She broke through with her debut album Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful? in 2009, followed by the critically and commercially successful Fall to Grace (2012) and A Perfect Contradiction (2014). Her fourth album The Architect reached number one in the UK in 2017. Known for her distinctive vintage style, powerful vocals and theatrical stage presence, she has also taken on acting roles and become an outspoken advocate for social issues. She is a mother of two daughters.
