Patina Renea Miller, born on November 6, 1984 in Pageland, South Carolina, is an American actress and singer known for her powerful presence on both stage and screen. She graduated with a BFA in musical theatre from Carnegie Mellon University in 2006. Her breakout role came when she originated the part of Deloris Van Cartier in the West End and Broadway productions of Sister Act The Musical. She went on to win a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as the Leading Player in the Broadway revival of Pippin (2013). On screen she has appeared as Commander Paylor in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 & Part 2, Daisy Grant in the television series Madam Secretary, and Raquel “Raq” Thomas in Power Book III: Raising Kanan (2021–present). She is married and has one daughter.
