Del Castillo continued her success with leading roles in Alguna vez tendremos alas (1997), La mentira (1998), and Ramona (2000). Her portrayal of Teresa Mendoza in La Reina del Sur (2011–present) brought her international recognition. In 2017, she starred as Emilia Urquiza in Netflix's political drama Ingobernable. Del Castillo made her Hollywood debut in Under the Same Moon (2007) and appeared in films like No Good Deed (2014) and Bad Boys for Life (2020). She became a U.S. citizen in 2015 and launched her tequila brand, Honor del Castillo, the same year. Beyond acting, she is known for her activism, including work with the Blue Heart Campaign against human trafficking.
