Karen Newman is an American singer born and raised in the Detroit area, best known as “the voice” of the Detroit Red Wings, performing the U.S. national anthem at home games for over 30 years. A graduate of Grand Blanc High School (1978) and Oakland University (music), she has toured with Bob Seger and Kid Rock. Newman has released multiple CDs, including the holiday favorite “Christmas Eve on Woodward Avenue”, and hosts annual Christmas concerts and specials. She has also worked in commercial campaigns and supports various children’s and animal charities across Michigan. Married with twin children, she lives in a Detroit suburb and continues to perform beyond the rink.
