She studied theatre at Loyola University Chicago and trained at the Steppenwolf Theatre. Morrison made her film debut in Intersection (1994) and appeared in Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000). She became well known as Dr. Allison Cameron in House (2004–2012) and later as Emma Swan in ABC’s fantasy series Once Upon a Time (2011–2018). Her film credits include Star Trek (2009) and Warrior (2011). In addition to acting, she directs and produces independent projects through her company Apartment 3C Productions.
