Alessandra Mussolini, born December 30, 1962, in Rome, is the granddaughter of Benito Mussolini and niece of actress Sophia Loren. She started as an actress in the 1970s, appearing in films such as A Special Day, and later posed for Playboy covers in Italy and Germany in 1983 before leaving entertainment. She earned a medical degree in 1994 and entered politics in 1992 with the Italian Social Movement (MSI). Mussolini served multiple terms in the Italian Parliament, became a Senator in 2013, and was elected to the European Parliament in 2004–08, 2014–19, and 2022–24. In 2003 she founded the far-right Social Alternative party. Known for nationalist and socially conservative positions, she has also campaigned for women’s and LGBTQ+ rights. Married to Mauro Floriani since 1989, she has three children and is also active as a painter and reality‑TV participant.
